Ayodhya has become the 7th-12th largest city in terms of population when large number of devotees beaming in from Prayagraj and other places of India and making Prayagraj world's largest city leaving Tokyo behind by large margin.
There are still three major Snans left on 12th February on the day of 'Maghi Poornima' ,22nd Feb and Maha Shivratri with large gathering expected on these dates specially on Maha Shivratri.
Mahakumbh 2025: Over 40 crore devotees take the holy dip at Triveni Sangam*

The sacred confluence of Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna, and the invisible Maa Saraswati at Triveni Sangam continues to witness an overwhelming surge of devotees during the Mahakumbh. Saints, Kalpvasis, devotees, and householders, filled with deep faith and devotion, have taken the holy dip in massive numbers. As of Friday morning, the total count of pilgrims bathing in the holy waters has surpassed 40 crore.
By 10 AM on February 7, an additional 42.07 lakh devotees had taken a dip in the holy waters, further increasing the total number. With 19 days still remaining in the grand event, it is expected that the number of bathers may exceed 50 crore.
Even after the three Amrit Snan (Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami) in Prayagraj, the enthusiasm of devotees remains unwavering. Pilgrims from across India and different parts of the world continue to arrive in Prayagraj in large numbers each day, seeking spiritual merit through the sacred bath. After the last Amrit Snan festival of Basant Panchami, crores of devotees are still reaching Triveni Sangam. By 10 AM on Friday, February 7, 42.07 lakh people had taken the holy dip, including 10 lakh Kalpvasis alongside saints and devotees from India and abroad.
An analysis of the total number of bathers reveals that Mauni Amavasya saw the highest turnout, with 8 crore devotees taking a holy dip. On Makar Sankranti, 3.5 crore devotees participated in the Amrit Snan. Additionally, on February 1 and January 30, more than 2 crore pilgrims took the sacred dip each day. Paush Purnima witnessed 1.7 crore bathers, while Basant Panchami recorded 2.57 crore devotees immersing themselves in the holy waters.
Several political leaders, celebrities, and spiritual figures have also taken part in the sacred ritual. Among them are Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with his cabinet ministers. Other notable political figures include Governor Anandi Ben Patel, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, and Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Shripad Naik.
Opposition leaders and renowned personalities from various fields have also participated, including SP National President Akhilesh Yadav, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, and Former MP Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua.
Bollywood actors and sports personalities such as Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, Bhagyashree, Milind Soman, Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal, cricketer Suresh Raina, international wrestler Khali, and choreographer Remo D'Souza have also been part of the Mahakumbh. Additionally, famous poet Kumar Vishwas, actress-turned-Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara Mamta Kulkarni, and actress Isha Gupta have taken the holy dip.
Other dignitaries who participated in the sacred bath include Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.
On February 10, President Droupadi Murmu is also scheduled to visit Prayagraj to participate in the sacred ritual at Triveni Sangam.

In a historic initiative that aims to make Mahakumbh 2025 at Sangam's Triveni confluence, an unforgettable experience for global visitors, over 10,000 Mahakumbh souvenirs have been sent to countries like Russia, Germany, France, Israel, and Italy. The souvenirs include plants of Prayagraj's famous guava, bel fruit (aegle marmelos), and bananas, symbolizing the event's spiritual and cultural essence.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision for a "Green and Cultural Mahakumbh" has received widespread praise from Mahamandaleshwars and the President of the Akhada Parishad. In Mahakumbhnagar, neem and basil plants, along with fruit-bearing plants, were distributed as 'Mahaprasad' by the Bade Hanuman Temple and Baghambari Math to devotees, both from India and abroad.
At Shrimath Baghambari Gaddi, a special ceremony was held in coordination with the Mahant of Bade Hanuman Temple at Sangam Ghat, Prayagraj, and Shrimath Baghambari Peethadheeshwar Pujya Balveer Giri Ji Maharaj. As part of the Achala Saptami Mahotsav, saints and devotees were uniquely honored with plants, bags, and plates as Mahaprasad. Shrimahant Balveer Giri described receiving a plant in Prayag, along with a bag and plate, as a 'profound blessing'.
The youngest Ganga Sevak and environmentalist, Manas Chirvijay Sankrityayan, who was honored by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expressed his commitment to the "Green Mahakumbh" vision. "With the blessings of Shrimath Baghambari Peethadheeshwar Balveer Giri Ji and our CM Yogi, we are fulfilling the concept of a Green Mahakumbh," he said.
On this occasion, Shri 1008 Mahamandaleshwar Sati Giri Ji Maharaj praised PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath for their respect and reverence towards the saint community. He stated, "The power of Mahadev and the grace of Adiyogi Gorakhnath Ji are working through them, making this Mahakumbh a historic occasion not only for India but for the entire world."
He further added that the enthusiasm of the devotees at Sangam was so overwhelming that even a large space fell short to accommodate them. He thanked the Chief Minister for making Mahakumbh a greener event.
Akhada Parishad President Mahant Ravindra Puri also praised the Chief Minister for his efforts in protecting Sanatan Dharma and serving saints.
Along with other prominent saints, including the President of the All India Akhada Parishad, Shrimahant Ravindra Puri of Maa Mansa Devi Temple, Shrimahant Ram Ratan Giri, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Premanand Puri, Shri Mahant Shankaranand Saraswati, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Lalitananda Giri, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Anantanand, Mahant Omkar Giri, and Mahant Radhe Giri, he praised CM Yogi's vision for the successful organization of Mahakumbh 2025.
