The Party of Regions welcomes condemnation of anti-Semitism in the U.S. Senate resolution
“U.S. Senate urges all political parties to refrain from hate speech or actions of anti-Semitic character which further divide the Ukrainian people when they need to be united”.
These words from the resolution, which I am now holding in my hands, are very close and clear to the Ukrainian authorities, whose policy has always been based on a strong condemnation of anti-Semitism or any hate ideology. In his addresses to the nation, in his numerous speeches and in all his actions President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has always emphasized the need to apply an ideology and political rhetoric which unites people rather than divides, sows hatred and confrontation.
We therefore fully support the appeal in the U.S. Senate resolution to those political parties in Ukraine which use ideology of hate, and we view these words of the resolution as perfectly fair, as well as those clauses that speak of the right of the Ukrainian people to choose their path into the future. We also sincerely share the calls on the opposition and civil society to avoid the use of violence, to refrain from using force and engage in a dialogue of national reconciliation. As well as calls on the authorities to refrain from the use of force against protestors.
We are convinced that a dialogue between the two large social groups who so far have different visions of Ukraine’s perspective, is possible and will certainly lead to the unity of the people and the strengthening of Ukraine as an independent state, where people strive to live according to European standards, and where the authorities are doing everything possible to create prerequisites for attaining such standards in Ukraine.
